First day at uni-year 2
After 8 weeks of good and relaxing holidays, finally university resumes. Happy to be in Year 2. Well today's highlights can take the form of:
meeting with old friends again who could make it the second year and those who could not make it also.
discussion of the new timetable
taking on loan from library the recommended textbooks
entertaining "carrom" match in common - euhh, we have new sets of tables and chairs now!!
a slightly crowded campus with the sight of freshers and fresh foreign students
meeting and welcoming fresher friends/relatives to the university and collecting their feedback
last but not the least, a wonderful first Human Resource Management class, with an impressive lecturer. Compte rendu:

No he is not as old (and ridiculously funny) as in the above shot, but the "one of the best lecturers at UoM" is young.
Whilst busy writing on the whiteboard, the lecture theatre was accomodating the students. Then with a cool English accent, he started...Well, it was the first time that we witnessed a lecturer asking the introduction of all the students in the class, during which he seized the opportunity to crack jokes or sarcastically make remarks. But it was a nice way to begin. Then came his introduction. It was in a very professional way and his profile was quite impressive: an elitist approach, the fact we would be kicked by him to reach our highest standard, his reference to Top Schools, noticeably Oxbridge & London School Of Economics, the beautiful descriptions of the eminent scholars - Karl Marx, Michel Foucault, Max Weber. The cool announcement was that we would have the opportunity to watch the Movie Germinal -Anny Duperey, Gérard Depardieu; I don't know how far this is true but here is the trailer.
He also has the following quote on his screensaver, if I can still recall:
The proletarians have nothing to lose but their chains. They have a world to win.
Was also impressed and a bit scared also of his elitist approach: the setting up of his exam papers to the international standard. And his unique way of approaching students to get his answers by hook or by crook, phewwww.
Amongst the recommended HRM textbooks is the below one, which is excellent according to him:
Well, have to get started to work up to his expectations and why not give the try to break the "olympic" record of 86 in his module. To get started with, here is what should read and be ready to answer questions on.
